Our clients’ overarching goal for the basement was to ensure that it wasn’t dark, and didn’t feel like a basement. We began by opening up the stairway, removing half of the wall to increase the sense of spaciousness, allowing people see the basement before they have even entered it.
Even though the walls are painted in a neutral tone, the hue’s hint of warmth offers an invitation to spend more time enjoying the lower level of this family home. The luxury vinyl plank on the floor layers in a complementary timbre. Overhead, a mix of potlights and ceiling fixtures create a bright mood — so needed during the winter season!
The entire level includes a separate bedroom, bathroom and multi-functional living area, with a dedicated media zone, dining area/games table and bar.

The living room is divided into distinct zones, to appeal to a variety of entertainment interests. The media zone takes full advantage of our TV Package, which includes a sturdy wall-mount for a big screen, and assures that all unsightly wires disappear. A 36” fireplace encased in Travertine stone from floor to ceiling adds an extra-cozy allure to relax and unwind. We designed a refreshment zone by custom-building a five-foot wetbar with floating shelves on the wall above. Additional potlights brighten up the colourful quartz countertop, making it easy to choose a beverage from the newly installed refrigerator.
