The journey to the all-new updated basement begins with new carpeting on the stairs, along with a new handrail for stability and safety.
The entryway to a large storage room is tucked to the left of the stairway, while a linen closet and the mechanical room are to the right.
We added a gas line for the barbecue, just outside the sliding doors off the carpeted flex space. We also installed a dedicated circuit for a treadmill in the gym zone.

The modern farmhouse vibe continues with a custom barn door, separating the media room from the rest of the house. Close by, a five-foot wet bar with custom shelves beckons those in need of refreshment, all part of the strategy to make this room the ultimate in movie night nesting, with our classic TV Package wall-mounting the big screen television. We wired the speakers with 5.1 Dolby surround sound for the ultimate entertainment experience.

In the bathroom, our client chose to eschew a tub, allowing us to create a more spacious feel, accentuated by the dominant light colours throughout the room. The 5-foot by 3-foot shower is encased in large-size tiles, with standard plumbing fixtures and a dedicated potlight.
A quartz counter with tile backsplash, echoing the media room wetbar, rests atop a stained wood vanity, continuing the hint of modern farmhouse. A custom mirror maximizes self-reflection by stretching from the lights down to the backsplash.

This basement is a tale of two clearly defined zones. With limited square footage, our client didn’t want to hem in the area by constructing two separate rooms. However, by using completely different floor coverings, we were able to instantly evoke the clear sense of separate spaces for distinct activities. The luxury vinyl plank flooring is a stylish yet practical choice for a home gym, sturdy enough to withstand heavy activity, while presenting a modern farmhouse aesthetic.
