We installed this basement in a single-family home in Chestermere, west of Calgary. The basement consists of a central living area, bathroom, bedroom, as well as a gym, designed to combine style elements with functional features. Before setting up the individual rooms, we implemented 5mm luxury vinyl plank flooring, as well as level 4 finish drywall and a textured ceiling. For lighting, we used 5” LED Halo pot lights, and for heat, we added 1 heat run to the bathroom. For the central entertainment area, we installed our full TV package. This includes 1 cable and internet connection, raised plug, in-wall conduit, complete with HDMI and TV backing.

Our suppliers offer a wide mix of different tub/shower features, but our customer chose a Hytec tub-shower combination for this bathroom, surrounded by a tile trim. The bathroom flooring consists of luxury 5mm glued down vinyl plank. The other central piece of our bathroom installation was high-end 31” vanity complete with a stunning quartz countertop.

From the wide variety of flooring selections available from our supplier, our customer went with a luxury vinyl plank throughout the basement for this install. This fully-glued down flooring is not only comfortable to walk on, but also waterproof, making it perfect for a basement setting as well as for children.

Gym
To enhance the workout space, we added custom cut mirrors around the gym area. Because the customer specifically mentioned they wanted to implement a treadmill, we created a dedicated circuit for it to make using it as simple as possible. Our luxury vinyl flooring was also chosen with the gym in mind.

Custom Finishing
As a part of our installation, we also worked to open up the stairway to make it easier for people to walk into the basement. We cut back the wall on a 45 degree angle, then topped the stairway with MDF spray to match the rest of the basement. This gives the feeling of an open space when entering the basement.
